Personal Data

Dan originally hails from Cincinnati, OH, and has been married to his wife Mary Ann for many decades. In his spare time, he enjoys riding motorcycles, racing cars and bicycles, period Queen Anne reproduction furniture making and big game sport hunting. His wife has won several awards for her beautiful gardens as well and has designed numerous gardens and commercial landscapes in the Champaign area.

Consulting Activities

Consultant in the areas of automobile and motorcycle vehicle dynamics and aerodynamics, and in accident reconstruction, for more than 50 years. Clients have included nearly every manufacturer, insurance company, and racing organization in the World, as well as numerous engineering companies, insurance companies and legal firms. Activities involving legal consulting work are currently ~ 70% defense/30% plaintiff. Some past and current Clients include the Illinois State Police, Indiana State Police, California Highway Patrol, Wisconsin State Patrol, The City of Chicago, the Illinois, California, Wisconsin and Michigan Departments of Transportation (IDOT, CALTRANS, MDOT, WDOT), the County of Los Angeles, the U. Academic Activities and Experience

Emeritus Full Professor, Department of Industrial & Enterprise Systems Engineering (formerly General Engineering), University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (retired as of 8/1998). Previously full professor of General Engineering, on full-time academic/teaching staff continuously since 9/1970 until retirement.
